A coup d'etat against President Rodrigo Duterte remains a possibility, said Cabinet Sec. Leoncio Evasco said.
This is because there are personalities unhappy with the way Duterte is running the administration, such as Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and the Liberal Party, he said.
However, Evasco said a coup plot will not prosper because Duterte enjoys a high trust rating.
Evasco did not reveal where he got the information about a brewing coup plot.
Trillanes denied he is behind any coup plot.
"Hindi po totoo 'yan at wala po akong kinakausap na mga miyembro ng Liberal Party o kung sinuman ukol sa ganyang bagay. Ako po'y naniniwala na 'yan ay panlilinlang dahil sila ay humaharap ng kaliwa't kanang pagbabatikos," Trillanes said.
The Liberal Party has no comment yet on Evasco's statement.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines also did not give a statement since it is still verifying the information.
However, we should support President Duterte because our President is very positive to change our society and he wants to safeguard the next generation.
