On Tuesday, President Rodrigo Duterte's top aide, Christopher "Bong" Go, appeared to have not closed his door on running for the Senate in 2019, weeks after declaring that he was not interested in the post.
"Depende ho kay Pangulo lahat," was Go's response when asked on the sidelines of an event in Pasay City about the matter after Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol said the Special Assistant to the President would make it to the top five of the Senate race.
There are 12 seats up for grabs in next year's senatorial polls.
Bong Go, in a separate statement, said it was "too early to talk about the next election."
"What is more important right now is for me to focus on the fulfillment of the promises of the President to uplift the lives of our countrymen. I am deeply flattered by the support of some Cabinet secretaries, especially DA Secretary Manny Piñol," he said.
