PNP Chief Bato to order dismissal of 174 cops found positive for drugs

On Monday Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said he will order the dismissal of 174 policemen who have tested positive for drugs.

Idi-dismiss namin ngayon,” he announced in a press conference.

The PNP chief vowed that he will block any attempt of the policemen to be reinstated.

PNP Crime Laboratory director Chief Superintendent Aurelio Trampe said that as part of the internal cleansing of the police organization, they collected urine samples from 159,129 PNP personnel for random drug testing.

Of the 174 found positive for illegal drug use, 167 were uniformed and seven were non-uniformed personnel.
He said that of those found positive, three challenged the result of the Crime Laboratory but their positive findings were further confirmed by the National Reference Laboratory.
