UN will not send any person to the Philippines



United Nations is not sending an 18-man team to the Philippines to review the human rights situation in the country.

On a news release by the United Nations Human Rights (UNHR), the review of the 18-man Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights will happen in Geneva on September 28 and September 29.

The UNHR's release said 18 independent human rights expert

s will review a "range of issues relating to the Philippines’ implementation of the ICESCR (International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights) with a Philippine delegation."
The Department of Foreign Affairs, which had said that the review is annual, has yet to identify who will be sent to Geneva to join the review.

The UNHR said that the Philippines has submitted a report, which will be discussed during the two-day review.
